Bhubaneswar: Even though it is the law of nature, the gory image of a tiger hunting down and preying on a live monkey inside the Nandankanan zoo was something that the visitors least expected.
The incident occurred when a monkey entered the enclosure of a tiger named Bahubali. According to witnesses, soon the tiger chased down the monkey.
After mauling the monkey inside the enclosure, the tiger later fed on it.
We have taken a serious note of the incident and will ensure that such accidents do not reoccur on the zoo premises, said Nandankanan Zoo administration.
