Bargarh: Tension ran high at the Bargarh district headquarters hospital (DHH) today after a woman died after delivering a baby due to alleged negligence in the hospital.
Sources said the woman was admitted to the hospital in the evening on Monday. She later delivered a baby body in the hospital. However, the woman suddenly died this morning. The family members of the deceased alleged that the she died due to negligence on the part of doctors at the hospital.
Protesting the death, villagers of Birmal village in the district staged a road blockade in front of the hospital keeping the dead body of the woman on the road. They demanded compensation for the family members of the deceased.
On the other hand, the Additional District Medical Officer (ADMO) went to the spot and discussed with the protesters. The protesters later called off their stir after he assured them to provide Rs 10,000 from the district Red Cross fund and ordered a probe into the incident.
ADMO Suresh Tripathy said, "As per the surgeons the woman died due amniotic fluid embolism. However, the exact cause of the death will be known after post-mortem of the dead body. Action will be taken once we receive the inquiry report."
