Bhubaneswar: Despite the heat wave gripping several parts of the state, the mercury level is expected to come down marginally from tomorrow, said India Meteorological Department (IMD) regional director Sarat Chandra Sahoo here on Tuesday.
According to the IMD director, the South-West monsoon is likely to make an onset over Kerela over May 30, with a model error of plus or minus four days. If similar conditions prevail, monsoon may hit Odisha coast in the second week of June, added Sahoo.
Meanwhile IMD has issued orange alert across the state for the next two days as many parts of the State reeled under severe heat wave conditions on Tuesday, with the maximum temperature crossing 46 degree Celsius mark at Titlagarh and Balangir.
At least five urban centres had recorded temperature above 45 degree Celsius and 16 centres recorded above 40 degree Celsius on Monday.
As per the prediction of the MeT department, the heat wave situation is likely to persist till May 19 but there will be a marginal drop in the temperature.
