Bhubaneswar: Teachers under the banner 'All Odisha School-College Teachers and Employees United Forum', today postponed their agitation and served a two months ultimatum to the state government to fulfill their demands.
The teachers, who were on strike for more than one and half months postponed their stir after a meeting with Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi. A group of ten teachers, representing the forum discussed their demands with Padhi in the presence of BJD MLA Arun Sahoo at the State Secretariat here.
They have been demanding withdrawal of the 'controversial' affidavit clause prescribed in the Grant-in-Aid (GIA) Policy-2017 besides the fulfilment of their six-point charter of demands.
"The teachers' body put forth three demands before the Government today and we have assured that their demands will be considered," said Padhi after the meeting.
Forum Convener Pabitra Mahala confirmed that the strike has been postponed and that the teachers will participate in the evaluation process.
While the government had requested for a three month long duration for the fulfilment of their demands, the body agreed for two months time.
Notably, the teachers had threatened to take out a mega rally in Bhubaneswar on Wednesday.
