Sunil Mishra appointed as new CIC

Bhubaneswar: Retired director general of income tax in Karnataka and Goa, Sunil Mishra on Wednesday appointed as the new Chief Information Commissioner (CIC) of Odisha.

A formal notification in this regard was issued after the approval of Governor SC Jamir on Wednesday.

Mishra will succeed former chief secretary TK Mishra. The post of CIC was vacant for the last two years.

Mishra was reported to have been selected at the meeting presided by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on October 6.  Parliamentary Affairs Minister Bikram Arukha and Leader of Opposition Narasingh Mishra were also present during the selection committee meeting.

Two other names - additional chief secretary in Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) UN Behera and retired chief secretary of Odisha SK Panda- were also considered at the meeting.
