Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate police has quizzed Saswati Das and Arati Nayak, trustees of the Siksha O Anusandhan (SOA) Charitable Trust in connection with the SUM Hospital fire mishap that had occurred on October 17.
The Trust runs Institute of Medical Sciences and SUM Hospital.
Sources said, on Sunday night the Khandagiri police went to the Trust office here and grilled both. During questioning, they denied any links with the fire mishap as they are not directly involved in the operation of the hospital. The hospital is functioning as per UGC guidelines.
Notably, the High Court had granted anticipatory bail to both the trustees on November 24. While Das is the wife of hospital owner Manoj Nayak, Arati is the sister of the latter.
Earlier, the police had summoned the duo thrice to record their statements in connection with the fire mishap which so far has taken 31 lives. Since they failed to appear, the police questioned the two in the Trust office.
