Sub Jailor, PEO in Vigilance net

Puri/ Keonjhar: Vigilance sleuths on Tuesday arrested Digapahandai Sub Jailor Bibhuti Bhusan Patnaik while he was taking a bribe of Rs 10, 000.

According to sources, the anti corruption wing nabbed Patnaik while he was taking the bribe from a contractor promising him to provide the contract of food supply to the jail.

Besides, it is also alleged that Patnaik was also taking bribe from the contractor on pretext of clearing all his arrears, the sources added.

In another incident, the state probe agency today arrested Ekdasi Pradhan, Panchayat Executive Officer (PEO) of Dhangidisola panchayats under Saraskana block in Keonjhar district while he was taking a bribe of Rs 4,000 from a person to sanction Indira Awas aid.

According to sources, Pradhan asked Lalmohan Dhir of Dhadingisolo village to give Rs 6,000 bribe for the sanction of housing scheme.

Following the incident Dhir met the Vigilance officials and chalked out a plan to trap Pradhan. As per the plan, Vigilance nabbed Pradhan while Dhir was offering Rs 4,000 to the PEO, the sources added.

After arresting Pradhan, the state probe agency also raided his house, office and block office.
