Puri: Lapses in the existing security measures at Puri Srimandir have come to fore once again after some pictures taken by a devotee inside the temple's inner precinct surfaced on social media.

According to reports, one Jugal Kishore Vaishnav posted the pictures taken at a few locations inside the temple on his Facebook account.

The incident stoked concerns as there is a restriction on entry of mobile phones and other articles inside the temple and all the devotees are allowed inside after a thorough security check.

However, the authorities of the Sri Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) could not be contacted for comments on the matter.

It is not for the first time that the pictures of the sacred shrine have been uploaded on the internet.

In November, photos of repair works of Jagamohan, the hall facing the sanctum sanctorum of the 12th century shrine were posted on social media sparking resentment.

Sadanand Sharma, an official of Miner’s Health and Safety, Central Institute of Mining and Fuel Research (CSIR) had posted the pictures on his Facebook page. Later, he had apologized for posting the pictures.

Similarly, a woman devotee had also posted her selfie believed to have been taken inside the temple in September this year.
