Shocking! Man kills mother over family feud

In a shocking and spine-chilling incident, a youth killed his mother by smashing her head with a stone pestle owing to a family discord at Bharatpur under Khandagiri police limits in the city on Sunday morning.

The accused son, identified as Bijay Maharana alias Tiki, was arrested and is being interrogated by police. Bijay forced her mother Sudasna Maharana (50) to solemnise his marriage with a particular girl to which she had been denying. A quarrel was ensued between mother and son last night over the matter, which took a bizarre turn in the morning.

Locals detained the accused son and handed over to police later. The body has been sent for post mortem, police said.

The 30-year old Bijay is the eldest among three of her children. The family belongs to Ganjam district, police said.
