Paradip: Panic gripped Madhuban colony, after an employee of a shipping company was shot dead by some unidentified miscreants near Ambedkar Bhavan here on Wednesday morning.
The deceased has been identified as Babuli Swain, manager of Seaways Shipping company.
According to sources, the incident took place at around 9.30 am today when Swain was on his way to his office in his Scorpio vehicle.
Two motorcycle-borne unidentified miscreants first hurled bombs at Swain’s vehicle. When Swain tried to flee away, the assailants opened fire targeting at his head killing him on the spot, the sources added.

Being informed about the incident, police rushed to the spot and started investigation into the matter.
"We were being threatened since the past two years over the dispute between Seaways Shipping and Odisha Stevedores. We want that the Odisha Stevedores owner to be arrested," said victims nephew Babuli Swain.
"Police have begun its investigation following with the truth will come out. The OSL group is no way linked to the the incident," said Suvendu Dash, President (HR), Odisha Stevedores Limited.
"We are investigating taking into account various angles. We have constituted four teams. It seems like an planned murder," said Central Region IG Soumendra Priyadarshi.
In the meantime, local MLA and minister Damodar Rout has criticised the police and the administration for deteriorating law and order in the district.
"Paradip has become a crime-infested area. This is either because of the negligence of the administration or its silent support," said Rout.
