Malkangiri: Teachers being involved in sexual harassment has scarred the sacred relationship. In yet another incident in Odisha, a teacher of MV 71 Project Upper Primary School in the district has been accused of sexually assaulting girl students.
As per reports, the teacher, identified as Manjeet Bain, used to sexually exploit the students and threaten to fail them in the exam, if they reveal about it to anyone. Fearing threat, the students remained silent for quite some time and the accused teacher kept assaulting them.
Later, the girls narrated their ordeal to their parents following which a meeting was called on in presence of the Cluster Resource Coordinator (CRC) in the school.The accused teacher along with his wife was also present in the meeting. Even though the teacher refuted the allegations, his wife slapped him in front of all. A video of the wife slapping the teacher has gone viral.
Meanwhile, the Block Education Officer (BEO) was also approached with the matter. However, no police complaint was lodged against the accused teacher.

"He was misbehaving with us and threatened to fail us in the exam if we disclose about it to anyone," said a student.
"We want exemplary punishment for the teacher so that no one will ever dare to involve in such act," said a local.
Meanwhile, BEO Prasant Mohapatra said a probe into the sexual assault allegation is on. “If the allegations are found true, stern action will be taken against the teacher and others involved in the crime," he said.

Earlier last month, the headmaster and cook of Gobindpur Primary School in Joda Block in Keonjhar district in the State were arrested after students brought sexual harassment allegations against them.
