Bhubaneswar: With mystery shrouding the death of a person whose body was recovered from the Kuakhai river bed in Bhubaneswar on Wednesday, investigations took a new turn today after the family of the deceased made startling revelations before the police.
Police had recovered the mutilated half-burnt body of one Unmay Padhi of BJB Nagar here on Wednesday from the river bed.
Later, police seized a motor cycle, a ladies sandal, a laptop and a charger from the location. A knife, which is suspected to be the murder weapon, was also found lying near the body.
Reportedly, exactly a year ago an obscene video had gone viral on social media in which Unmay and a woman from Chandbali were seen together, following which he was even arrested by the Kharavela Nagar police.
Sources said the video was again seen circulating in Chandbali a few days back, which Unmay’s elder brother suspects might be the reason behind his murder. However, the woman in the viral video denied her involvement in the murder case. She said," I have no role in the murder of Umnay. Let police identify the murderer and arrest him."
Meanwhile, police has expedited the probe following the revelations made by Unmay’s elder brother. Further investigation is on, sources said.
