Angul: Seven families of Badabula village under Handapa police limits in Angul district have been living in isolation and leading an ostracized life since the past 2 years.
The matter came to light when the families knocked the door of the district Collector seeking justice.
As per the seven families, they had purchased seven decimals of land from a person. However, ownership of one decimal land got recorded in the name of the seller during the settlement which triggered a spat between the families and the villagers. Later, the locals allegedly boycotted around 30 members of the seven families from the village and even tortured them. They were even barred from temples.
Meanwhile, Athamallik Sub-Collector Subash Chandra Rai said an inquiry will be conducted following which action will be taken.
"Steps are being taken with help of the district administration to send the people back to the village. Besides, stern action will be taken if any person is found troubling the families," Rai said.
