New Delhi/Bhubaneswar: Jaga, one of the separated conjoined twins of Kandhamal continues to show strong signs of improvement as he has started moving his hands and legs freely and is also playing with his favourite toy ball.
A mobile video shot inside the general ward of AIIMS New Delhi, where Jaga is under treatment showed him playing in his mother’s lap with a ball showing significant signs of improvement.
Presently, Jaga is able to consume rice, dal and eggs with ease and also likes to listen to music on his father's mobile, said sources.
Meanwhile, his twin brother, Kalia is yet to get out of the ICU as his condition is slowly improving and may need a few more days to come out of ventilator support.
Doctors at the AIIMS have been closely monitoring each development in both the twins following their two-stage separation surgery earlier last month.
The conjoined twins were separated after a marathon surgery that lasted around 11 hours at AIIMS on October 25. A special team comprising 20 surgeons including four Odia doctors and 10 Anesthesiologists led by AK Mahapatra and other paramedical staff successfully conducted the separation surgery.
Jaga was taken off ventilator support on November 1 and was moved to the general ward of the AIIMS two days later.
However, Kalia who had episodes of epileptic fits showed little signs of improvement in health due to impact of medicines, doctors said. The twins are likely to stay under supervision of AIIMS doctors for two more months.
