Security tightened in Balasore, Bhadrak in view of Ganesh Puja

Balasore/Bhadrak: To avoid any unpleasant situation and maintain harmony in view of the month-long Ganesh Puja celebration beginning today, local administration of Balasore and Bhadrak districts have tightened security in the respective areas.

One company of the Odisha Swift Action Force (OSAF) led by Tehsildar Priyabrat Padhi and IIC Kartik Chandra Mallick staged a flag march in Soro, Balasore. Besides, the administration urged public to celebrate the festival without much pomp and show.

Last year, a series of communal clashes crippled the town during Ganesh Puja idol immersion ceremony. Normalcy returned after several days of strife along with extensive deployment of police and several rounds of peace meetings.

Security was also tightened in Bhadrak that witnessed communal riots earlier this year during Ram Navami celebrations.
