Rourkela: Skills acquired in the field of science and technology should be on top of the priority list for the country’s economic upliftment, said Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) chairman Alur Seelin Kiran Kumar today here.
Kiran Kumar, who was the chief guest at the 14th convocation ceremony of the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Rourkela, stated, “Life in the actual world can be bettered with the use of technology and skills someone has acquired from educational institutes," adding that learning is a life-long exercise.
The ISRO chairman added, “Issues should be addressed objectively through rigorous scientific approach.”

“Human beings, who are causing harms to environment for short-term gains, should think of development and environment side by side,” the ISRO chairman emphasised.
Ten students drawn from different departments at NIT-Rourkela were given gold medals at the convocation function for excellent academic performance. Besides, 103 students were awarded PhD during the function.
