Cuttack: Odisha DGP RP Sharma on Saturday urged police personnel to hone their skills in scientific investigation so as to improve the conviction rate in the State.

While speaking at the 65th Odisha Police Duty Meet at Reserve Police ground in Cuttack, Sharma said that conviction rate in the State is one of the lowest in the country. Hence, senior officials and personnel at the police station levels need to develop skills to tackle crimes in more professional manner.

“The value of physical evidence or geting leads in crimes through scientific tools remains of paramount importance. Witnesses may turn hostile but if the physical evidences are gathered scientifically they may lead to convictions,” said Sharma.

Sharma urged cops, officials at police station levels to upgrade skills so that Odisha police grows as a professional force in the country.
