Bhubaneswar: The incident of a woman staging demonstration and taking on her in-laws became the talk of the town in Bhubaneswar on Tuesday.
The woman identified as Rajashree Samantray was also injured after she reportedly slashed her hand with a blade upon being opposed by her mother-in-law during ‘Griha Pravesh’ ceremony.
According to reports, Rajashree had a love marriage and tied knot with Ashirbad Mohanty of Old Town area under Lingaraj police limits of Bhubaneswar with consent of both families in 2015.
However, it is alleged that in-laws drove Rajashree out of the house after two days of the marriage and demanded a dowry of Rs 5 lakh and car.
“They (in-laws) are planning for a second marriage of my husband and have sent him outside,” said Rajashree.
Rajashree’s advocate claimed that her in-laws are not accepting his client and we are contemplating legal action if things don’t change.
Ashirbad’s family, however, refuted the claims of the woman and feigned ignorance over the marriage.
“We do not know about the marriage. The woman’s claims are completely baseless,” said Ashirbad’s mother.
