RTO In-charge, two others killed in separate road mishaps

Jajpur: An officer-in-charge of Regional Transport Office in Jajpur Town was killed after a speeding a Hiwa truck hit him from behind near Chandpur under Panikoili police limits in Jajpur district in the wee hours of Monday.

The deceased officer has been identified as Manoj Behera. The accident occurred when Behera was inspecting vehicles on the National Highway. A truck dashed him from behind leading to his death at the spot.

"We have registered a case and started investigation. The driver of the truck has been detained and is being interrogated, " said Charan Singh Meena, Jajpur SP.

In a separate incident, two persons were killed after a car hit their bike near a bridge at Theruvali village in Rayagada.

The deceased identified as Sanjay Huika and Tuna Kadraka are residents of  Buriguda village.

Meanwhile, villagers staged a road blockade demanding adequate compensation.
