Bhubaneswar: Special CJM court (CBI) here today rejected the bail plea of Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Tapas Pal and sent him to 3-day CBI custody in connection with the multi-crore Rose Valley chit fund scam.
The Central investigating agency, which arrested Pal yesterday for his alleged involvement in the tainted ponzi firm, brought to the State capital and produced him before the court approaching for five-day remand.
CBI sources said Special Investigation Team led by DIG NK Singh, Bhubaneswar CBI SP Rajeev Ranjan and Investigating Officer (IO) will interrogate Pal to elicit more information on his nexus with the ponzi firm.
Talking to media persons after meeting the Pal at the CBI office here, his counsel Arun Acharya had said “He has been made a victim under political pressure since he is a celebrity and a MP. A bail application will be filed in court.”
It is alleged that Pal have influenced people by giving promotional speeches for the tainted chit fund firm. Besides, he has also appointed many of his relatives in the company and duped gullible customers.
CBI has reportedly collected strong evidences against Pal regarding his nexus with the company.
