Bhubaneswar: In a major breakthrough, the Chandrasekharpur Police today nabbed Biswanath Sahoo from Jajpur for defrauding job aspirants of Rs two crore with a promise to get them jobs at the East Coast Railway taking the number of arrested persons in connection with the case to five.
Source said arrested Biswanath will be forwarded to a court today and the Commissionerate Police will seek his remand to elicit more information on involvement of more people in the railway job racket.
Biswanath, who is the mastermind of the railway job racket, used to provide jobs to candidates under the General Manager’s quota in the ECoR in return of big amount through a recruiting agency set up by him. While some candidates had got Railway appointment letters from Biswanath, others were assigned duties as well. However, later the appointment letters and duty assignment documents were found to be forged.

In Bhubaneswar alone, four cases have been registered before the Commissionerate Police alleging the defrauding in the name of providing jobs at the ECoR.
Earlier, the Commissionerate Police had arrested four persons including retired chief personnel officer (CPO) of ECoR KC Bal for their alleged involvement in the railway job racket.
