Bhubaneswar: The 21st death anniversary of legendary leader and former Chief Minister Biju Patnaik is being observed with fervour at various places across the State today.
Political leaders cutting across party lines and people from all walks of life paid rich tributes to Patnaik and recalled his leadership on the occasion. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik offered floral tributes to statues of his father at Forest Park and on premises of the State Assembly here. Patnaik would visit the Biju Patnaik memorial near Swargadwar in Puri later in the day and offer tribute to the legendary leader, after whom the BJD was named.
Besides, BJD workers and leaders, including Culture Minister Ashok Panda and MP Prasanna Patasani gathered at Bindu Sagar here and observed ‘Tila Tarpan’ ritual of the late visionary leader.The BJD has lined up a series of events in different districts across the State to mark the day.
Meanwhile, international sand artist Sudarshan Pattnaik created a sand art at the Biju Patnaik International Airport here paying tributes to the Statesman.
