Cuttack: Water-borne disease, Jaundice is fast spreading its tentacles in Tulasipur area of Cuttack district.
At a meeting held under the chairmanship of RDC (Central Division) AB Ota, it was decided that total 50 squads will be formed to tackle the situation. While 25 teams will be pressed into service in the affected areas, the rest will visit all wards to take stock of the situation. The RDC also directed concerned officials to complete inspection of all water pipelines by March 31.
“50 squads have been formed to control the disease in Cuttack, out of them 25 will work in the Jaundice affected areas and the remaining 25 will inspect the wards”, said Central RDC AB Ota.
The water pipe checking work will be completed by March 31. Jaundice has been detected from 77 samples so far, he added.
District Collector, senior officials of the Public Health Department (PHD) and the Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) Commissioner among others were present at the review meeting.
On the other hand, Health Minister Pradeep Amat said that secretary of the concerned department has been directed to take stock of the situation.
According to sources, 77 persons have been tested positive so far. Tulasipur area covering at least three municipal wards of the civic body is the worst affected. The disease is said to have spread rapidly due to contamination of piped drinking water.
