Rayagada: Iranian citizen Nargis K. Asthari, who is the chief of Prison Foundation in Rayagada was sentenced to 1 year jail term and Rs 3 lakh fine by the SDJM court in connection with the drowning of a minor in November 2014.
Notably, in November 2014, the officials of the foundation had gone for a picnic at Nagabali river with some small children. One of the children identified as Asim Jilakira was swept away in the river and died. "Jual Rajgupta was acquitted by the Court due to lack of evidence while Nargis K. Asthari was awarded 1 year jail term and Rs 3 lakh fine to be paid to the kin of the victim," said public prosecutor, Sachidananda Khadanga.
