Rashmiranjan Pradhan murder: 5 arrested

Angul: Police today arrested five persons in connection with the kidnap and murder of Rashmiranjan Pradhan in Purunagada Birapala village under Chendipada police limits of Angul district.

After a preliminary investigation, Angul Additional SP Jadunath Hansda revealed Pradhan was kidnapped after he failed to pay a ransom of Rs 1 lakh to the kidnappers. Later, the kidnappers murdered him.

Speaking to media, Hansda said, "Miscreants had demanded Rs 1 lakh from Pradhan. However, he could pay only Rs 10000. The accused later kidnapped and murdered him. We have arrested five persons involved in the crime."

The reason of murder could be a love triangle. Further investigation is on, added Hansda.
