Angul: A brief spell of rain on Saturday left the Pallahada hospital in Angul in ankle-dip water inside its premises, leaving patients and inmates distressed.
The wards of the hospital flooded with rainwater and patients had to lay helpless with water running under their beds. Even water from nearby drains had entered into the hospital making the place unhygienic.
Though the hospital experiences water logging during rainy season every year, the district authorities have failed to solve the problem, claimed sources.
“This being the situation after a mere shower, we cannot even think of what the scene would be like in the days to come,” said the attendant of a patient.
While it is alleged that flaws in the construction of the hospital have resulted in poor drainage of water, the Pallahada Sub-collector declined to comment on this issue.
