New Delhi: Odisha has been allocated Rs 3,112 crore in the Railway budget presented by Railway minister Suresh Prabhu in Parliament today.

The allocation in the rail budget to the State this year is significant in comparison to the budgetary provisions last year which was Rs 1,420 crore during the UPA government at the Centre.

As per sources in East Coast Railway, the Khurda-Bolangir railway line received an allocation of Rs 195 crore for 2015-16 as against demand from the State of Rs 300 crore.

The Talcher-Bimlagarh project received a budgetary allocation of Rs 280 crore as against the State’s demand of Rs 280 crore.
Similarly, the Haridaspur-Paradip and Angul-Duburi-Sukinda railway line projects have been granted Rs 36.8 and Rs 75 crore, respectively. Besides, the Balasore-Digha project received an allocation of Rs 2 crore in the budget.

The Lanjigarh-Junagarh railway line project got an allocation of Rs 7.5 and Daitari-Bansapani received Rs 12 crore in the budget.

For doubling or laying of third rail line, the Union Railway minister allocated Rs 32 crore for Khurda-Baranga, Rs 194 crore for Sambalpur-Talcher, Rs 100 crore for Delang-Puri, Rs 470 crore for Sambalpur-Titilagarh, Rs 513 crore for Bansapani-Daitari-Jakhapura lines in the budget.

For Cuttack-Baranga line Rs 4 crore, Rajatgaraha-Baranga Rs 16 crore, Bhadrak-Nirgundi Rs 125 crore, Sambalpur-Rengali-Jharsuguda Rs 53.3 crore, Rupsa-Bangariposhi broad gauge Rs 5 crore, Padapahara-Bansapani Rs 1 crore, Barabil-Badajamada Rs 5 crore, Bimalagada- Dumetra Rs 1 crore and Rourkela-Jharsuguda Rs 17.5 crore have been allocated.
