Property worth lakhs destroyed in fire at shopping mall in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: Property worth a few lakhs of rupees was destroyed as fire broke out at a shopping complex in Bhubaneswar today.

According to sources, the fire was noticed around 5 am on the second floor of the shopping complex, Venus Daily Mart, located near Damana market in the city.

Prdaeep, a security guard, who was present at the spot, said, "I saw smoke billowing out of the second floor of the four-storey shopping complex and immediately informed the fire brigade."

On receiving information, six fire tenders were pressed into service. The fire was doused after nearly two hours.

Though the exact reason is yet to be ascertained, short circuit is suspected to be the cause behind the mishap.
