Jharsuguda: A prisoner serving a life sentence died at the Jharsuguda Sub Jail this morning.
According to reports, the deceased, identified as Ramesh Chouhan (50), complained of severe pain in his chest in the morning. He was immediately rushed to the district headquarters hospital. But the doctors at the hospital declared him brought dead.
A native of Baleria village under Chakradhar Nagar police limits in Raigarh district of Chhattisgarh, Chouhan was arrested on May 5, 2010 for his involvement in two cases, including one of murder, in Brajarajnagar.
The court later convicted him and awarded life imprisonment.
“The body is presently kept at the district headquarters hospital for post mortem, which will be conducted after the arrival of the family members,” said Urmilla Minz, jailor of Jharsuguda Sub Jail.
