Dhenkanal: Authorities of Kamakhyanagar College in Dhenkanal cancelled the Students' Union election this year and declared sine die after pre-poll violence erupted on the campus here on Wednesday.
The decision of the authorities came immediately after some student supporters of a presidential candidate ransacked the college properties following rejection of his nomination papers.
The irate students also barged into the Principal's Chamber and ransacked his office, including air-conditioner, glass panes and table.
Following the incident, police forces were deployed on the campus to maintain law and order, sources said.
