Cuttack: In a major relief to the then Pipili police station Inspector in Charge (IIC) Amulya Champatiray, Orissa High Court (HC) on Tuesday upheld the State Administrative Tribunal (SAT)'s verdict on his dismissal in connection with Pipili gang rape case.

According to sources, the Odisha government have moved Orissa HC challenging SAT’s verdict.

Talking to newsmen, Ashok Das, counsel of Champatiray, said, “The High Court has upheld the verdict of SAT. The HC clearly said, without initiating departmental proceedings no government employee can be dismissed.”

The state government had earlier dismissed the then Pipili IIC Champatiray from his job in connection with the Pipili gang rape incident.
