Cuttack: Emphasizing on the importance of curbing crime against women & children, Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik urged the police department to carry out its duties in a professional manner.
Speaking at the closing ceremony of 65th Police Duty Meet in Cuttack today, Patnaik said, “Odisha Police has made progress, particularly with increasing use of scientific aids in investigation and inculcation of scientific temper among its personnel.”
Patnaik asked police personnel to take up crimes and offences against women, children, Dalits and Tribals on a priority basis and deal with them in a meticulous manner.
“The government has initiated various steps to enhance security of women. We have also put in place systems for close monitoring of crimes against women,” Patnaik added.
With cyber crime emerging as a major challenge, Patnaik said, three more cyber police stations will be established in Rourkela, Sambalpur and Berhampur and few more are also in pipeline.
The CM also lauded the efforts of Crime Branch for its Operation Muskan III which was launched with assistance from other nodal agencies within and outside Odisha.

As many as 3,622 missing children were traced within Odisha while another 126 children were rescued from Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Maharashtra, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh and New Delhi under Operation Muskan III this year.
“The police duty meet will help officers to enhance their investigative skills including forwarding of exhibits, cyber crime, technical surveillance, criminal law and procedures and other aspects,” said DGP RP Sharma.
Sharma said that adequate steps have also been taken to ensure that youths do not fall prey to the online Blue Whale game that has emerged as one of the major threats worldwide.
