Patient falls off AIIMS rooftop, dies

Bhubaneswar: In an unfortunate incident, a patient undergoing treatment at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) here, died after falling off the roof of the hospital.

The victim has been identified as Subas Jena of Dhenkanal.

Hospital sources said, Jena fell off the 6th floor of the Orthopaedics department in which he was undergoing treatment.

According to his family members, Jena was in deep mental stress and had attempted suicide in the hospital earlier too. Today taking the advantage of the absence of his family members, Jena took the extreme step by jumping from the rooftop, a family member told OTV.

However, the exact reason of his death will be known after post-mortem, police said.

Police has registered a case and is investigating the matter.
