Parrikar to attend Vikas Utshav in Cuttack today

Bhubaneswar: Union Defence minister Manohar Parrikar will arrive here this afternoon and proceed to Cuttack to attend ‘Vikas Utsav’ the BJP is observing to commemorate two years of its government at the Centre.

Along with Parrikar, Union minister of state for Social Justice and Empowerment Vijay Sampla and Union Petroleum minister Dharmendra Pradhan are also scheduled to attend BJP’s Vikas Utsav event in the millennium city.

Parrikar is scheduled to address a gathering of intellectuals at Sarala Bhawan at around 6 pm as part of the celebrations. BJP leaders aver that the Union ministers’ visit will infuse fresh energy among party cadres.

Prior to the programme in Cuttack, Parrikar is scheduled to hold discussion with ex-army officials and defence personnel in the capital city.

Meanwhile, in view of Bargarh incident, the police has made elaborate security arrangements in Cuttack ahead of the Union ministers' visit to the city to avoid any untoward incident.
