Bhubaneswar: After completing the first phase of its probe into the mysterious deaths of Anang Manjari Patra, the palace manager of Gopinath Gajapati Narayan Deb, the successor of Gajapati dynasty of Paralakhemundi, and three of her siblings, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Crime Branch returned to its headquarters on Sunday.
According to sources, the SIT, which was in Paralakhemundi for investigation for the last six days, met the CDMO of Gajapati district today before its return.
“The investigating agency asked me about the health condition of the Maharaja,” the CDMO said after the SIT met him.
Besides, the probe team also seized a poster issued in the name of the sister-in-law of the Maharaja, which was placed in front of the Parala palace, the sources added.
On Saturday, the SIT visited the tehsil and sub-registrar office to probe land related transactions of the Parala king.
While scanning documents relating to royal properties, the investigating team has come to know that the king had sold a vast stretch of a mango orchard in April 2012. He had also disposed of another piece of land in December, 2015. The current market price of the above properties is estimated to be around Rs 3 lakh.
CB sources said, the team during its second phase of investigation, will visit Berhampur, Paralakhemundi and Chennai. The team is expected to quiz Deb's spinster daughter Kalyani Gajapati, who is staying in Chennai for years now.
