Bhubaneswar: A day before the filing of nomination for the biennial Rajya Sabha elections comes to an end, BJD’s Koraput district unit president and Rajya Sabha poll aspirant Jayaram Pangi on Sunday said someone else should have been the party candidate in place of N. Bhaskar Rao as the latter holds the post of vice chairman of the State Planning Board.
Pangi said, Logically, I would have got nominated as party candidate for the Rajya Sabha poll. The party high command might have decided otherwise because of some other reason.
As he (Rao) is occupying a position, someone else should have been the nominee, he added,
Showing displeasure over Pangi statement, BJD spokesperson Sashi Bhusan Behera said, This kind of dissatisfaction is not proper. The party chief is keeping an eye on all aspects and took a decision after considering everything.
Notably, on Friday, Chief Minister and BJD supremo named Prasanna Acharya, Bishnu Das and N. Bhaskar Rao as party candidates for the Rajya Sabha polls to be held on June 11.
