Panel reviews Jagannath Forest Project in Nayagarh

Nayagarh: A six-member committee on Friday reviewed the Jagannath Bana Prakalpa (Jagannath forest project) in Nayagarh district.

It may be mentioned that the project was launched by the state government in 2000 to supply timber for making chariots. The panel members visited various forest projects and worried over the non-availability of dhaura and asana saplings in the forests.

Notably, in view of lack of woods needed to construct chariots for the Trinity, the Jagannath Bana Prakalpa was started at various places in the district in 2001-02. As part of the project, phasi, bandhana and nima saplings have been planted in various forests.
