Bhubaneswar: Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) has targeted Odisha government for its failure in protecting government land in different parts of the city.
While raising the mega land scam in the outskirts of Bhubaneswar in the Assembly on Saturday, BJP MLA Pradip Purohit critized the government for its inefficiency in putting a check on such illegal encroachments.
OTV had recently exposed as how land mafias have sold government land at throw away prices at Bharatpur and Shyamsundarpur areas under the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC).
“Land mafia and dalals have sold more than 5 acres of government land at prices between Rs 40,000 to Rs 50,000 which has been reported by the electronic media here. The dalals have links with BJD as the officials who had gone to evict the squatters returned without taking action,” said Purohit.
Urban Development Department Minister Puspendra Singhdeo on the other hand claimed that already clear instructions have been issued to the eviction squad comprising officials of BDA, GA and Commissionerate police for appropriate action.
