Berhampur: The two offices of Ortel Communications in Berhampur which were sealed by the administration on charges of violation of fire safety norms and trade license were reopened today.
“The Orissa High Court order on Thursday issued a direction to open the office. Based on that order and a letter issued by Berhampur Municipal Corporation (BeMC) we reopened the offices,” said Legal Advisor of Ortel, Rajendra Kumar Das.
Earlier on April 26, the BeMC's commissioner and the sub-collector of the district had sealed the two offices of Ortel - one near the Old Bus Stand and the other in Gandhi Nagar area in the city over non-renewal of municipal corporation's trade license, non-payment of electricity bill and violation of fire safety norms.
Subsequently, Ortel had filed a writ petition against the sub-collector and the BeMC Commissioner.
Hearing the matter, the Orissa High Court had directed to reopen the offices.
But the administration citing that it has not received the certified copy of the court order, didn't open the offices earlier.
