Athagarh: In a tragic incident, a man was killed when a car he was driving fell into an open well near Jenapada under Athagarh police limits here on Friday. The deceased has been identified as Biswajit Sahu.
As per sources, the mishap occurred this morning when Sahu was on his way to Jenapada from Icchapur under Athagarh police limits.
Sahu somehow lost balance over the vehicle and then it fell into the well dug on the roadside. Sources said the Maruti Suzuki 800 car, bearing registration number OR 02M 0105, remained submerged in the well for almost half an hour until a few locals spotted this and raised an alarm.
Getting information, a team of fire brigade personnel rushed to the spot and initiated rescue operation.
Sahu was pulled out from the well and rushed to Athagarh Hospital where the doctors declared him brought dead.
