Bhubaneswar: After cine artistes Mihir Das and Anu Choudhury, Ollywood actress Mahasweta Ray will also join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), informed BJP spokesperson Pitambar Acharya on Sunday.
Ray, who recently won the best supporting actor for "Dele Dhara Katha Sare" during the 28th State Film Awards, will join the BJP at the party's headquarters here in the presence of Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and other senior leaders on Monday, Acharya said.
The party will organise a mega event for the same at 11 am tomorrow, Acharya said adding that women in the State are ready to join BJP in large numbers due to increasing cases of violence and atrocities against them under the ruling BJD government in Odisha.
The BJP's main slogan is "Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao" but BJD's “Gaon ku Kama, Maa ku Samman” campaign has just remained in slogans.
The burning example to this is the Kunduli incident that has exposed the modus operandi of the Naveen Patnaik led BJD government and its failure to provide safety and security to women in the State, Acharya added.
