Bhubaneswar: Odisha government is in the process of finalising eight new policies which would be unveiled during the Make in Odisha conclave scheduled to be held here between November 30 and December 2.
The new policies would be on MSMEs, tourism, textile and apparel industries, agriculture, food processing and petroleum industries, an official said. He expressed hope that over 500 industries from across the country and abroad would take part in the conclave.
“We are in the process of finalising modalities of some policies. Once completed, we will announce them,” Industries minister Debi Prasad Mishra said.
Meanwhile, industry experts feel that some other sectors with business potential, are likely to be in the focus of the State government.
“Non-mineral sectors are also in focus to attract investment. Besides, we hope that the State government is likely to sign MoUs with some industries,” said Dillip Satapathy, resident editor, Business Standard.
The conclave is being organised jointly by the Government of Odisha and the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP).
The objectives of the conclave are to showcase manufacturing ecosystem in Odisha, highlight investment opportunities and elicit investment intention from the corporate. There will be activities including exhibition, exposure, networking, plenary sessions and sectoral sessions during the conclave.
Official sources said stalls of large companies operating in Odisha in the sectors like steel, aluminium, infrastructure, food processing, IT, textiles, petrochemicals and power will be set up to showcase newly emerging investment opportunities.
The State Government has organised pre-conclave investor reach out events including road shows at Delhi, Kolkata, Pune and Hyderabad. A budget of around Rs 20 crore has been proposed for the conclave.
