Bhubaneswar: Taking a leaf out of the Madhya Pradesh government’s plantation measures along the Narmada river, the Odisha government has decided to spend Rs 200 crore in the first phase for plantation on both sides of Mahanadi river and tributaries Ib and Tel. This would help in conservation and ground water recharge. A high-level meeting under chairmanship of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik took a decision in this regard on Tuesday.

The plantation will be undertaken on 200 square kilometers along the embankments of the rivers in the first phase in 2018-19.
