Bhubaneswar: Odisha government has made the installation of GPS (global positioning system) in the mineral transporting trucks mandatory to bring transparency in mines business, said steel and mines minister Prafulla Mallik.

The GPS device, which is linked to the Integrated Mines and Mineral Management System or i3MS software, aims to stop illegal transportation of minerals, said Mallik, adding that the steel and mines department is strictly following the instruction of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik to use the software.
