Bhubaneswar: With livelihood of many workers at stake, the government on Friday initiated the process to revive two defunct paper mills in Odisha. Industries minister met officials of Bilt Sewa Paper Mill in Jeypore and Orient Paper Mill in Brajarajnagar along with the people’s representatives from the area.

The minister has sought a report on the reasons behind the closure of the Bilt Paper mill from its officials within 20 days. Similarly, a report has been sought within two months on the reasons why the Orient paper mill is lying defunct since the past 17 years.

“The minister has assured us and asked us to submit a revival and modernisation plan outlining the minimum level of activity which can be achieved so that the government feels confident to provide support,” said CGM of Bilt Sewa Paper Mill, DP Dewan.

“The government will do what is possible and feasible but they have to provide us with a detail plan on the improvement and modernisation of the plants,” said Industries minister, Debi Prasad Mishra.
