Bhubaneswar: With a single-day spike of 668 cases and 17 fatalities, the Covid-19 tally in Odisha rose to 314629 while the death toll surged to 1657 on Monday.
Of the fresh cases, 385 are reported from quarantine centres, while 283 are related to local contact cases. Nuapada district recorded the highest 68 cases followed by Khordha (56), Sundargarh (55) Mayurbhanj (50) and Angul (46), as per the data released by the Information and Public Relations (I&PR) Department on Monday.
In terms of death, four persons each succumbed to the disease in Khordha and Sundargarh. While three deaths were reported from Sambalpur, two each deaths from Jharsuguda and Bargarh districts and one each from Bolangir and Kendrapara, informed the State Health and Family Welfare (H&FW) Department.
The H&FW department has shared the details of the seventeen Covid-19 patients who succumbed while undergoing treatment at various hospitals:
- A 36-year-old male of Balangir district.
- A 60-year-old male of Bargarh district who was also suffering from Diabetes Mellitus, Hypertension & Hypothyroidism.
- A 53-year-old male of Bargarh district.
- An 84-year-old male of Bhubaneswar who was also suffering from Diabetes Mellitus , Hypertension, AKI with Old traumatic brain injury
- A 34-year-old male of Bhubaneswar.
- A 65-year-old male of Bhubaneswar who was also suffering from Hypertension & Bronchial Asthma.
- A 55-year-old female of Bhubaneswar who was also suffering from Hypertension.
- A 56-year-old male of Jharsuguda district who was also suffering from Hypertension.
- A 73-year-old male of Jharsuguda district who was also suffering from Hypertension.
- A 70-year-old male of Kendrapara district who was also suffering from Diabetes Mellitus.
- A 52-year-old male of Sambalpur district who was also suffering from Hypertension.
- A 72-year-old male of Sambalpur district who was also suffering from Diabetes Mellitus.
- A 56-year-old male of Sambalpur district who was also suffering from Diabetes Mellitus.
- An 84-year-old male of Sundargarh district who was also suffering from Diabetes Mellitus & Hypertension.
- A 53-year-old male of Sundargarh district who was also suffering from Diabetes Mellitus & Hypertension.
- A 50-year-old female of Sundargarh district.
- A 70-year-old male of Sundargarh district who was also suffering from Diabetes Mellitus, Hypertension & CKD.
As of now, at least 53 patients infected with COVID-19 have died due to pre-existing ailments, informed the H&FW Department.
A total of 40,606 samples were tested in the last 24 hours taking the cumulative tests to 5604532 in Odisha. The number of active cases in the state has come down to 7106 and 305813 persons recovered from the infection so far.
Meanwhile, with 44,059 new coronavirus cases and 511 deaths in the last 24 hours, the Covid-19 tally in India rose to 91,39,865 and 1,33,738 deaths, as per morning data of the Union Health Ministry.
The total active cases stood at 4,43,486 while the total recoveries were at 85,62,641 as 41,024 were discharged from hospitals and care centres in the last 24 hrs, added the Ministry.
