Bhubaneswar: Odisha Parba will once again bring to life the socio-cultural ethos of the coastal state in the heart of the national capital, an official said on Sunday.
The second edition of the three-day festival will begin from March 9. The organiser, Odia Samaj, has put together a grand platform at the India Gate in New Delhi.
Citizens from every nook and corner of the capital city can witness the unique culture, heritage, traditions, dance, melody, culinary delights, along with illustrious history and freedom struggle of Odisha under one spectrum, said the organiser.
To commemorate the life of martyrs from Odisha, this year's celebration is based upon the theme - "Odisha's struggle against British Rule from 1804-1947" and an exclusive exhibition will highlight the rebellion led by Jayee Rajguru and Buxi Jagabandhu.
"Each Odia is a Paika in patriotism, spirit and zeal. Paika Bidroha was the first armed rebellion against the British East India Company in 1804. I maintain my calm within because I must be myself the silent, cultured, peace loving yet the strong willed Odia. My land is the land of convergence of equanimity and inherent simplicity," said Sidhartha Pradhan, President of Odia Samaj.
During the occasion, a coffee table book dedicated to the valour of the Odias will also be released.
To enthral the congregated masses, the Odisha Parba's entrance gate will be the replica of 'Dola Bimana', which represents the resplendent 'Dola Yatra'- the popular festival of colours in Odisha.
Intricate applique and Pattachitra designs will add new colours to this decorum. A grand stage will be set up where high relief work of Barabati Fort in the backdrop will evoke the glorious past of Odisha.
Sculpture gallery by internationally renowned sculptor Padma Shree Sudarshan Sahoo will showcase the state's rich legacy.
This year food lovers will get to taste scrumptious Odia delicacies like the traditional Odia Meetha, Peetha, Badi, Papad, Aachar, Ghuguni, Dahibara, Chat, Odiathali and Odia Paan.
The entire food court will be designed in a fort style, reflecting the ambience of "Baarah Maase Terah Parba", which reflects Odisha's passion for festivals in one calendar year.
The handicraft and handloom section in the festival will be the treasure trove of renowned Odishan tradition and famous textiles.
