Bhubaneswar: Odisha government on Thursday hiked the Dearness Allowance (DA) to 5% from 4% for state government employees.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik approved the release of 1% DA for state government employees and pensioners which will be retrospectively applicable from July 2017.

Official sources said, now the DA for the employees will be 5% while the pensioners drawing pension at the pre-revised rate will be entitled to get an enhanced DA of 3%.

Earlier in December 2016, DA was increased to 132 percent from 125 percent.

Nearly, 4.5 lakh government employees and over 3.5 pensioners in Odisha would benefit from the decision.
