Bhubaneswar: Resentment seems to be brewing among lakhs of Odisha government employees as they are yet to receive their salaries for the month of March.

Finance Minister Shashi Bhushan Behera had on Sunday informed that a technical glitch occurred in the Human Resources Management System (HRMS) server resulting in delay in disbursement of salaries.

"Delay in disbursal of salary for March is a concern for the State government employees. We hope and request the government to take necessary steps for early disbursal of salary," said Bibekananda Samal, general secretary of Odisha Secretariat Service Association (OSSA).

"We are facing a lot of problems from payment of school fees of our children to house rent. It's difficult to sustain without salary," said State government employee, Diptiranjan Ray.

Meanwhile, the Congress and the BJP have targeted the ruling BJD-government with the former alleging that the government has presently no money to pay salaries.

"The government had announced implementation of the 7th Pay Commission's recommendations eyeing 2019 election. Now, it has no money to pay salary. It is waiting for loan and once it gets the loan, the employees will be paid," said senior Congress leader and Opposition chief whip, Taraprasad Bahinipati.

BJP MLA Pradeep Purohit alleged that the present situation is a result of government's failure to make proper calculation of its income and expenditure.

Finance Minister Shashi Bhushan Behera on the other hand said that the problem that had occurred in the HRMS server has been resolved.

"The billing process has already begun and in a day or two, all the employees will get their salaries," Behera informed.
