Bhubaneswar: Teachers under the banner of School Teachers Federation of Odisha (STFO) on once again took to the streets demanding fulfillment of their various demands, including abolition of the block grant system.
Thousands of teachers took out a rally at Lower PMG square demanding fulfillment of 11 –point charter of demands including abolition of the block grant system, equal salary for equal work, salary as per 7th pay commission recommendations, provision of full aid, government takeover of all aided schools amongst others.
“We demand the state government to withdraw the block grant system and provide all the eligible schools full grants. Moreover, all the schools should be taken over by the government,” said STFO Convenor, Prakash Chandra Mohanty.

The protesting teachers have threatened to stage road blockade on March 30 and will organize a mass sit-in protest, if their demands are not fulfilled.
